Interview with -
Christian Weigert
How long
have you worked at WDW?
I worked at WDW for approximately 6 months, 3 in the summer of
1999 and 3 in the summer of 2000 on the Walt Disney World College
Program.
Where in
WDW do you work?
The first summer I was at the Trail's End Buffet at Disney's Fort
Wilderness Resort and Campground, and this past summer I was at
the Disney-MGM Studios Backlot Tour.
What would
be a typical day's work for you?
At Ft. Wilderness, I would be a restaurant greeter, welcoming
guests, showing them to their seats, ringing in carry-out orders,
and, as needed, rolling silverware. At the end of the day I would
bank out the servers and do some paperwork for the resort. At
the Backlot Tour, I would rotate through several positions a day,
giving the actual tour (spieling), driving the tour shuttle, assisting
guests on or off the shuttles, and keeping things running as smoothly
as possible.
What do
you like most about working at WDW?
I absolutely loved the guest interaction, offering suggestions,
and in the case of the Backlot Tour, being an actual part of the
guests' show.
Do you
have a particular magical memory that sticks in your mind, from
working at WDW?
At the Fort, a little girl had left her autograph book behind
when her family had left. I checked to see if the family was staying
at the resort and then got Mickey to inscribe a message to the
young lady, explaining how he had found the book and was integral
in getting it back to her. :)
If you
could give one tip to someone visiting WDW, what would it be?
There is so much to see and do at the WDW Resort, but don't feel
that you have to do everything! Before your trip, or in the morning
before you hit the parks, select what shows and attractions you
really want to see, and don't be afraid to park hop.
