Dine in an authentic replica of a medieval Norwegian
castle.
"Help yourself to the koldtbord" (cold table) is
the catch phrase in Restaurant Akershus where guests are encouraged
to make multiple trips to the table. The seafood and cold meat dishes
provide an appetizing beginning for this authentic Norwegian dining
experience. Gravlaks, a cured salmon served with mustard sauce;
chilled shrimp; Norwegian-style herring and an assortment of salads
and cheese make this first course a meal in itself.
Next come the smarvarmt, or hot dishes. A sampling
of these delights would include lamb and cabbage, smoked pork with
honey mustard sauce, venison strips in cream sauce and macaroni
and cheese with ham. Mashed rutabagas and boiled red potatoes round
out the hot selection. All beverages and desserts are served a la
carte.

"We made priority seating arrangements at guest relations
after entering Epcot. Upon arrival at the restaurant, we were seated
immediately. The staff and our waiter were very friendly and helpful.
We ordered our first round of hot entrees and then helped ourselves
to the cold bord. The food was delicious and we worried about the
size of the impending hot selections. To our relief, the hot selections
were small appetizer sized, which one can order as many as one wishes;
all covered by the price of the buffet. If you enjoy cold cuts,
herring, smoked fish, a variety of cheeses and breads along with
several Scandanavian hot dishes, this is the place for you. The
dining hall had the feeling of a sound stage, but we rated the entire
experience first rate." (1/05) Burke Hilliard
"My family and I ate at the Akershus restaurant yesterday
evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were seated promptly without
having priority seating. The service was wonderful. Our waitress
was very good at recommending her favorite dishes and happy to help
with any questions we had. Everyone we came in contact with was
pleasant and curtious. We have never tried the Norway food before
at EPCOT and were very surprised at how wonderful it was. The cold
buffet was wonderful, with new dishes we had never tried. The hot
food was wonderful as well and we all ordered a second dish to try
one more item. We agreed we had eaten entirely too much, but enjoyed
every moment of it. We decided to visit this restaurant again in
the future and would recommend it to anyone who is willing to try
new and delicious food." (7/03) Jennifer Krueger

"We have been here before and enjoy it very much. We went
for lunch w/o ps and were seated right away. The menu is really
more cold foods than hot,but there is a variety. The cold foods
were better than the hot foods! It was resonably priced. The service
was very good also. The kids enjoyed it too. We didn't have desert
here, though, it was too expensive. Instead, we went next door to
the counter service for Norway and had the same desert for half
the price! I would recomend this place if you like cold food and
salads. If not, skip it!" Angela
"When eating the main meal at Norway, the food might be horrible,
but their desserts make up for it!"
