Wow!!
I’m here, but how do I get about?
Parking
You will need to have a handicapped/disabled sticker, clearly visible,
to park near the entrance. UK Blue/Orange Badges are acceptable!
Wheelchairs & ECV's (scooters)
Each park has Wheelchairs or ECV/Scooters that you can rent. Currently
wheelchairs cost $6 ($1 deposit) and ECV cost $40 ($10 returnable
deposit) per day. WDW Wheelchairs and ECV's are rented on a first
come first served basis, you cannot reserve them. If you intend
to park hop you would pay only once at the first park visited, however,
be aware that there may not be any Wheelchairs of ECV's available
at the next park if attendance is high!!
ECV's and wheelchairs are available for hire at Downtown Disney.
ECV's cost $8 an hour, with a two-hour minimum and $30 maximum.
You must leave a credit card for deposit. Wheelchairs are also available
and cost $6, but a $100 deposit must be left.
Wheelchairs are available for hire at the three water parks.
If you feel you need a wheelchair or ECV with you at all times
there are companies that will rent to you for the duration of your
stay. They will deliver to your WDW Resort, offsite hotel or Villa!
Contact details are as follows:
Care
Medical Equipment
This company will deliver before you arrive so your equipment is
waiting for you.
Walker
Mobility
This company will deliver before you arrive so your equipment is
waiting for you.
Randy's
Mobility
This company require you to take possession of the equipment and
they will show you how to dismantle it.
ScootArama
Wheelchair & Scooter rentals for Disneyworld, Universal Studios
and Seaworld. Free delivery and pickup with advance notice.
Most of the Disney Buses have Hydraulic Platforms so wheelchairs
& ECV's can access them. If a bus arrives without access, they
will have one sent out very quickly!
If you have rented an ECV, it's prudent to charge it overnight,
every night. Having done this, it would be unlikely to need charging
during the day!!
Most of the Boats at WDW are accessible, the exception being the
boats on Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake! These are fixed platforms,
so do not rise and fall with the water level. You may find that
there is a ramp available though!
Hurray!!
I'm in, but which rides can I go on?
First stop should be Guest Services where you can pick up a Handicap/Disabilities
Guide.
If you or a family member has a disability that isn't visible,
then ask for a GAP (Guest Assistance Pass), which you can present
to a ride CM, who will happily help you. (A letter from your MD/GP
may be needed, but not always)
