Firework facts

IllumiNations 2000

$35,000 is spent on fireworks each night for IllumiNations at Epcot.

On Millennium New Year's Eve, $500,000 was spent on fireworks!

Over 26,000 ft of lights outline the World Showcase pavilions.

2,800 shells are used for each show

Earth Globe is a 28 ft diameter sphere, which rotates on a 350-ton floating island that houses six computer processors, 258 strobe lights and an infrared guidance system.

Earth Globe is the world's first spherical video display system, wrapped in 180,000 LEDs (Light-Emitting Diodes).

Sixty-seven computers in 40 locations, hundreds of special lighting fixtures, four fountain barges pumping 5,000 gallons of water per minute, a 150,000-pound inferno barge with 37 nozzles to shoot propane flames skyward, and a full color spectrum of lasers in custom Disney shades are required to produce the brilliant 13-minute show.

In the grand finale, the Earth Globe opens up like a lotus flower as a giant fire torch emerges from the center and rises 40 feet into the air.

Fantasy in the Sky

700 feet in diameter is the burst size of a 12-inch shell during Fantasy in the Sky

One Disney character flies from the top of Cinderella Castle to ignite the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom – Tinker Bell

Fantasmic!

The lagoon at the front of the stage is only 1.5ft deep! The water is filtered, but they deliberately don't filter the algae out, that way the water stays murky and people can't see how deep it really is.

There is a driver in each of the princess boats in the show. The canoes just have a motor, the actors use a paddle to steer. Steamboat Willie is the only boat used that is on a track.

There is room for 6,900 guests sitting, and 3,000 standing.

There are three water screens, each 50 ft tall by 100 ft wide, which pump 2,400 gallons of water into the air every minute.

The mountain is 59 ft, the fourth highest 'mountain' at WDW, behind Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain and Splash Mountain, respectively.

The Maleficent dragon weighs a massive 32,000 lbs.

During his battle against evil, Mickey encounters the villainous Jafar in the form of a 100-foot long and 16-foot high cobra that could fit more than 8,000 average size King Cobras in its coils.

Fantasmic! may revolve around Mickey’s imagination, but the hardware used in the show is for real. A 5-watt Krypton laser and 30-watt Argon laser create dazzling special effects.

The grand finale sees 26 Disney characters on an 80ft replica of Steamboat Willie.

A total of 150 costumes are worn by more than 50 performers.
