Most of the resorts have games rooms/arcades,
where kids can play video games.
There are special kids areas at the water parks, where they can play
safely in shallow water with small water slides.
Fort Wilderness offers lots of kid friendly activities
including a nightly hayride.
Kids will love the animals at the petting farm
at Fort Wilderness.
Children aged 2-8 can enjoy pony rides at the
petting farm at Fort Wilderness, between 10am & 5pm, for $2. Older
kids can goon a horseback ride through Fort Wilderness for $23, departing
8:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am, 1pm & 4pm. For
reservations call (407) 939-7529 between 7:30am & 5pm
Fort Wilderness also has nightly hayrides which
depart from Pioneer Hall at 7pm and 9:30pm, cost $6 adult, $4 child
(ages 3-9).
There is a nightly campfire held near the Meadow
Trading Post at Fort Wilderness. Enjoy a singalong with Chip & Dale,
followed by a Disney film on a large screen. Marshmallows (for toasting)
and other refreshments are on sale. Call 407 824-2788 for the schedule.
There are TVs in the lobbies at the deluxe resorts
which show continuous Disney films, which you are free to watch.
Go to a character meal,
it's a great way for kids to spend time with their favourite characters.
There are kids' activity zones throughout World
Showcase in Epcot, where kids can try their hands at various multicultural
activities. See the guidemap for details.
Buy an Epcot Passport, which is sold at every
souvenir cart in Epcot. You get an "I'm a World Showcase Traveler" button,
plus a passport and a set of stamps for each country. As you visit the
countries, there is a place where a CM will stamp your passport and
write something in his/her native language.
Don't forget to buy an autograph book to get characters
autographs. You could even buy a character t-shirt for them to sign.
Go to the Wonderland Tea Party at the Grand Floridian.
Join Alice & the Mad Hatter to listen to stories, decorate their
own cakes, & have lunch. Offered Monday, Wednesday & Friday
from 1:30pm-2:30pm, costs $24.95 per child. It can be booked up to 120
days in advance by calling 407 WDW DINE. Cancellations must be done
at least 24hrs in advance, or there will be a no-show charge of $10.
A Pirate Cruise for kids (no adults!) from the
Grand Floridian marina, on Bay Lake. The kids are given a pirate's bandana,
& go on a boat, to visit the beaches at the different resorts searching
for treasure (which they get to keep). Goofy & Pluto put in appearances.
There is a lifeguard on board for safety. It is offered Monday &
Thursday at 10:30am-noon, & costs $20 per child. It can be booked
120 days in advance by calling 407 WDW-DINE, cancellations must be done
24 hrs in advance, or there is a no show charge of $15.
Some of the resorts, such as the Grand Floridian,
Old Key West & Boardwalk have kids activities scheduled each day,
ask at the front desk of each resort for details.
Go to the ice cream social at the Garden Grill
at Epcot, held each afternoon at 3pm & 3:15pm, for around $7 you
get an ice cream and a chance to meet the characters.
Teenagers
If you have a teenager(s) who wants to go it alone in the parks, make
sure they know where to contact you, & arrange a meet/return time
with them. For extra safety hire
two way radios so that you can keep in touch.
There are two mini-golf courses at WDW, Fantasia
Gardens near the Swan, & Winter Summerland at Blizzard Beach, a
round costs $9 each.
They could catch a movie at the AMC Theater at
Pleasure Island.
