Magic Kingdom Touring Tips

Often, one of the busiest days to visit is Saturday. This is especially appropriate in the 'off-season' when the nighttime parade is only featured on a Saturday. Days when Spectromagic is featured are usually the busiest, along with morning Extra Magic Hour days.

If you plan on riding all three 'mountains', go straight to Space Mountain when the park opens, then go to Splash Mountain, then to Big Thunder Mountain.

If you're not bothered about Space Mountain, go to Splash Mountain first, the Big Thunder Mountain. You can always ride Space Mountain during the parade, or get a Fastpass for it.

If you are going to Space Mountain first at rope-drop, go to the end of Main Street, turn right past the Plaza Restaurant, & go up to the rope barrier at the Plaza Pavilion. You will then have a head start on those waiting at the bridge from the hub.

If you're there for rope drop and want to ride Splash Mountain first, go to the bridge to Adventureland (at the end of Main Street, turn left to the Crystal Palace restaurant). If you want to ride Big Thunder Mountain first, use the bridge to Frontierland.

If you have young children, visit Fantasyland first, as it's one of the most popular lands, & there can be very long waits for the rides later in the day.

If a particular ride isn't important start of in Adventureland first & work your way around the park clockwise, most people start on the right-hand side of the park in Tomorrowland.

The most popular attractions that get crowded early on are - Space Mountain, Alien Encounter, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, Dumbo & Jungle Cruise.

To find out the wait times for rides, check out the tip board located at the end of Main Street near Cinderella Castle, & in Tomorrowland.

Instead of getting the monorail from the TTC to the Magic Kingdom, get the boat instead, it's a great way to arrive at the MK.

Going from the TTC to MK, take the resort monorail, rather than the express monorail, the resort monorail makes a couple of stops before it reaches MK, but the line is usually a lot shorter.

Before you arrive, arrange with the rest of your party a place to meet if you get separated, good places are in front of Cinderella Castle and in Town Square.

If you ride in the front seat on Splash Mountain, you will get wet, other riders in the log will get splashed, but usually not as wet.

Main Street, USA doesn't close until half an hour after the official closing time, so hang around and enjoy the empty street & shops.

Fantasyland and Toontown Fair may be less crowded later at night when most kiddies have fallen asleep.

For a less crowded, more relaxing view of the fireworks, watch from California Grill at the Contemporary or Citricos at the Grand Floridian.

Alcohol isn't served anywhere in the park.

To get away from it all, visit Tom Sawyer Island & have a drink and a snack at Aunt Polly's Dockside Inn (open seasonally).

Cinderella's Golden Carousel, Mad Tea Party and Dumbo are slow loading rides (the ride has to come to a complete stop to load and unload), therefore long waits are inevitable. Go first thing, or later at night.

If you don't want to eat in the park, hop on the monorail and visit the Grand Floridian, Polynesian or Contemporary Resorts. You'll find a good choice of places to eat, and have a chance to relax away from the busy park. Afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian makes for a very relaxing change, aso does sitting on one of the resort beaches. You could even take a ride on a watermouse boat, out onto Seven Seas Lagoon.

Stitch's Great Escape is very intense & not recommended for children.

Unless you're a train fanatic, save the Railroad until you've done everything else, or you want transport. You can't take strollers on the train, so leave your stroller at the station, take all of your belongings, including the name card, and get a replacement stroller at the next station.

On Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, move the joystick to turn the car around to face the targets. Move the laser gun so that the small red laser dot is on a target, then fire the laser.

The quietest rest rooms are next to the Crystal Palace, by the Plaza Pavilion and just by the Fairytale Garden near the Mad Tea Party.

"For the Haunted Mansion at MK, When you go into the room with all of the pictures on the wall, stand under the lady in the pink. This is where the exit the the DOOM BUGGIES is. also take the right hang queue, because it curves to the right so the left queue has further to go" - Louise Smith

"At the end of the day when heading back to the TTC from MK, stay to the right when in line for the monorail. The line will move the fastest."

"Try to get to the park at least an hour early. This way when the park opens you will get a good spot to stand in order to see the opening show. Also you get a chance to meet a new friend in line waiting."

"During the Spectromagic Parade, go by the character tent. All the characters are there and there is hardly a line!"- ALYSON FROM GEORGIA!
