Regina’s Disneymoon Report April 18-May 2, 2004

Day 5 (Thursday)
Today is the Keys to the Kingdom tour so we need to get an early start. We get up around 7 and have another poptart breakfast and make the calls to the Moms. And, just make it in time for the bus to Magic Kingdom. We check in over at Town Hall and choose our lunch and sit and wait for our guide. Soon after a short woman with red hair comes over and announces herself as Rae, our tour guide. She takes us over to the Roy and Minnie statue in the square (in between droves of children waiting for characters) and talks a little bit about that and then we move up Main Street. A couple of stops along the way talking about different things there and then we watch the Trolley Show. Then we make our way over to Adventureland where Rae talks about Walt’s first character. Yes, me the know-it-all announces that it was Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and everyone is dually impressed. Then we went on Jungle Cruise where we get a different and interesting tour and over to Haunted Mansion where we also get a lesson in a bunch of different things about the ride and then ride on it and notice what they were talking about. We had made several stops in between but it is just too much to talk about here. After Haunted Mansion, we go to lunch at Charter House (excellent by the way) and then do some more touring behind the scenes, etc. All in all, the tour was very enjoyable. It is a must see for the Disney Vet. Those who are going for the first time should wait a little while to go on this tour. I think it is something that you really get the full feel of things for later on when you’ve experiences a lot of that Disney Magic. It also gives a new appreciation for CMs and what they do to make our experiences great. After the tour, we head back for some showers and a nap and then to the Poly for the Luau. This time we planned a little better and left at 5:30 to get to the Poly for 7:30. Plus, we did it a little differently. We got to the bus stop and took the first bus we saw which was Epcot. From Epcot, we got onto the Monorail to the TTC and then over to the Poly. Much better this time and we were there with time to spare. Spent a little time in the gift shop and then went down to the cove. It seemed like it took forever for them to sit us down and it felt very strange for us because for the first time we were actually hatless. But, we still got up and danced because we were on our honeymoon. The entertainment was very good and the dancing was awesome but the food wasn’t all that great. All and all the Luau wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t do it again. It can be missed if you are on a time schedule. After the Poly, we head over to Pleasure Island and spent the rest of the night in the Adventurer’s Club. Saw most of the shows for the night and a few $$ on drinks and had a relaxing time. Back to OKW for bed. When we got back, we tried to have a little bit of fudge before bed but found the tin covered with ants. Apparently, they were sugar ants but needless to say, it wasn’t a fun experience. So, DH calls guest services to tell them about the issue and they tell us they will send an exterminator first thing in the morning and to tell a manager first thing about what happened.

About today: Keys to the Kingdom is not to be missed for a Disney Vet. I left the Luau hungry because I didn’t like the food. Drinks are very good at the Adventurer’s club.
