Regina’s Disneymoon Report April 18-May 2, 2004

Day 6 ( Friday)
Another Early start with breakfast in the room again. (love those poptarts) Stop over at the front desk and talk to a manager about our situation. She apologizes and lets us know that they will do something about the fudge and an exterminator is already on the way. Then she calls National for a shuttle to pick us up. We head over to National because we rented a car for the next two days. After we finally got through the line at National, we ended up with a Jeep Liberty and had on over to Islands of Adventure. We get up towards the gate and there are just droves and droves of people on line to get tickets to get in. Now, it’s only open till 6 and there is no way we will even get to ride half of what we want to with all of these people. So, we decide to can the idea and head to Universal Studios instead. We’ve seen it before but we wouldn’t mind seeing it again. First stop, as always, was the bathroom. While I was waiting outside for the DH (our br breaks are never in sequence with each other) shrek was out there with the kiddies. We didn’t have any kind of plans here. We were just walking along casually and whatever ride we passed, we went on. First stop was the Terminator 3D. Good show but a little loud with all of the guns blaring. I’ve done this twice now and I think I can go a while before I do it again. Next stop, Men in Black. Same concept as Buzz Lightyear but a little bit easier because you don’t have to control the car. Pretty good ride. I would do it again if we had more time but the studios are closing early so maybe next time (if there is one). Next stop is Back to the Future. Again, a ride not to be missed. I hate to admit it here but it’s better than Star Tours. The concept is the same but the design on Back to the Future is a little bit better. Instead of everyone being in one large car, you have six people in one of several cars and a huge IMAX rounded type of screen in front of you. It also shakes you a little more than Star Tours does. It’s not to be missed if you get the chance to go to Universal Studios. After that, we shoot over to EarthQuake and hit a pretty big line. Although, it moves pretty fast it was still a little aggravating. But, needless to say the ride was good as always. I can due without the beginning parts of how stunt sequences are shot but that’s just my opinion. Great effects on the subway in the earthquake though. I think I lost a couple of arm hairs on the fire. After that we head over to the diner to have some lunch. Now, at this point we are pretty much getting sick of tourist burgers and fries. But, there isn’t really too much that is appealing to us there. We weren’t too thrilled with it but you know what they say that when you are hungry…you’ll eat anything. If we had thought of it, we would have left and went out to Jimmy Buffet’s but the thought didn’t strike us till the way out. Then we just did some casual shopping and watched the Blues’ Brothers set on the stairs in NY. Next…Twister. On the way, we found the new Mummy ride with a CM (is that what they are called here?) standing outside and begged him profusely to let us on but it didn’t work. So, over to Twister we go. This ride….excellent as always. Although, it kills me how everyone rushes through the doors after the little video is played. HELLO if they let you into this room, we are all going to get on the stage!!!! So, there we were all the way in the back of the hallway where it’s a set of the movie props and such. I have to admit…this is a pretty neat hallway. Kind of made you feel like you were touring an area that had just been hit. As we are standing there, a couple of people find a small walkway to the other side and jump through, cutting off the rest of the people on the other side (who had run inside from the preshow) and then proceeded to run onto the stage. I still found this funny because everyone is getting the same effect! Not to mention that if you are one of the first ones in, you are ALL the way on the end. It really just doesn’t pay to push out in front of everyone. (sorry for the rant but this one erks me) Next we swing by ET but decide not to do it. I remember last time not feeling to comfortable on this ride. In short, they have a 13 inch seat on the bike you sit on and I have a 16 inch butt. Needless to say, I didn’t want to relive that memory. Now, it’s time to go. We are pretty much done with everything and need a nap. Head back to OKW, stop in the gift shop and walk back over to the room. When we get back, we find the fudge replaced, the ants gone and stuffed Mickey and Minnie dolls. You just HAVE to love that Disney Magic! We can’t stay in the room for too long though because tonight, we have ressie’s for Biergarten at 7:00. Get out and moving about 4:30ish or something like that and head over to Epcot. As we are waiting in the Security Line, a CM comes over to us and pulls us aside. As this point, we both have a dumbfounded look like what did we do??? So, he congratulates us and tells us that they are going to do something nice for us since we are on our Honeymoon. They are giving us Priority Reservations for Illuminations and tell us to go over to the right of the Rose and Crown at 8:30 and ask for CM (I can’t remember his name). Then, tell us that the CM that just pulled us aside sent us. They take our names, write it down on the “list” and away we go. Now, we are sweating it because we don’t to miss it because of our Biergarten ressies. So, we take a quick spin on Spaceship Earth and then head over to Biergarten and beg them to let us in earlier (love these hats), get seated 5 minutes later and feast. So, again we get to talking to the people next to us and apparently, it’s a very small world because again we are sitting next to fellow New Jersey people. So, we chat a little with them and talk about the German restaurants in our area etc. DH feasts down and can barely walk when he’s done and we leave [sidebar: the first time DH ate German food was when we were here back on 00, now I can’t get him away from it. He went from being explained what everything is (part German on my Mom’s side) to telling me what tastes best]. Get out about 8 and start to make our way past all of the people lining up for Illuminations. Meet CM (what’s his name) give our names and he lets us behind the Rose and Crown and meet up with another Disneymoon couple. So, we chat with them for a while and it turns out they are also Vets and felt the same way we did about where to go after the wedding. They are also getting sick of people asking them if they got married here and how long they’ve been married for. Ok, on with the show. OH MY GOD WE ARE CLOSE!!!!! We are so close that when the fireworks are going off, there is ash in our eyes. Now, I’m usually not a big fan of fireworks and the loud bangs tend to make me jump. So, DH is petrified here and grabs the Digital out of my hands and takes the pics himself. All we need is for this camera to fall into the water because I’m leaping out of my sneakers! Get some great pics, and chat a little more with our new friends and watch a great show. Exit out though International Gateway and check out the Boardwalk. Now, again it’s probably just us but the boardwalk wasn’t all that exciting to us. In fact, if we never went there again we would be ok. But, you have to realize that we are from New Jersey and frequent the New Jersey boardwalks. We head on over to the Swan or Dolphin (can’t remember which) use the bathroom and realize that when we eventually have money, we can pee in the lap of luxury too! And then we head over to Fantasia Gardens for a little mini golf. This place is great. We give them our AP discounts and we get charged a whole $2 each for a game. Very nice in the way Miniature golf places go. Very easy and a lot of fun, not to mention cheap. When we are finished and turn in our clubs, CM gives us a free soda and we are on our way back to catch the bus to PI. While the driver makes a stop at the Dolphin (or the Swan I still can’t get them right) some moron tries to get on the bus with a beer in his hand when the driver tells him that he can’t come on with it. Now, the guy is already drunk and says “hold on I’ll finish it” so here we are waiting for this guy to finish his drink, walk to the trash to throw it out and then back over to the bus. Meanwhile his wife gets on with 3 kids and all of the strollers and child gear while he hops on empty handed. This kind of a thing never ceases to amaze me. First of all, we are all held back because he has to finish his drink and that is was more important to drink the rest of it instead of help his wife! Back over into PI and into the Adventurer’s club. Boy are we pummled here because of the hats. All night long, they were involving us in the show and we really wryled them up. It was a really good time that night. We had back in our semi drunken stupor and catch the bus back to OKW along with the other drunks. A pretty late night tonight but that’s ok because we had a good nap in the afternoon.

About today: I miss not wearing my hat. It’s a good thing I put it back on. Illuminations is best viewed with ash in the face. I like cheap golf and free soda. Some people are just plain ol’ stupid. If you wear your bride and groom hats in the Adventurer’s Club, you’ll get hit big time. I hate waiting for the bus when I’m falling asleep.
