"Me and my husband stayed at the Caribbean Beach resort for
our honeymoon last week. The resort was clean and the rooms were
okay. We stayed in Trinidad South, which wasn't a far walk from
the food court and gift shop at Old Port Royale for the two of us.
If you have children, I wouldn't reccommend it. The staff was very
friendly and helpful. We had a great time, next time we go we are
staying at Pop Century, that looked really cool. I didn't care for
Shutters, I felt it was over priced for the food you get. The food
isn't that great. The food court was actually better than Shutters."

"Jamaica Room
4253, King bed room. Very spacious room that has 2 windows, this
was a first floor room. Super clean and the pastel colors created
an airy, tropical feel. There is a curtain that can be drawn to
separate vanity area from the bed area, which is nice because I
always wake up early to fix my hair/makeup and husband likes to
sleep. Bathroom was very clean, nice shower/tub. The table and chairs
in the sitting area is great, we ate meals there several times and
had a good amount of room. Location was excellent, short walk to
quiet pool and we were close to the bridge that goes to Old Prt
Royal so that was nice. Great location, would choose again. We were
also located ideally to parking lot and bus stop area. I would say
this location is central to everything. Bridgetown Broiler (I think
was opened eves when we were there, from 5 p.m. til 10 p.m.) has
really good ribs and bbq chicken meals. I thought this was the best
of the fast food places in the food court area. We tried all the
fast food places during our trip at one time or another and it was
good food for taking back to the room for a late snack. Pizza is
pretty good for a food court. We can go to any resort we would like,
as it is just my husband and myself, but we prefer Caribbean Beach
over any place else because of the tropical feel of the resort and
the lush foliage, ducks etc...I give it an A+ rating." (9/02)

"My family and I just returned from the CBR and had a great
time!!!There were 5 adults and 4 toddlers and couldn't of asked
for a better time!!! I did all my homework before we left and read
tons and tons of reviews of all the bad and all the good and was
very surprised to say that this place was beautiful... considering
I am very hard to please because i need all the bells and whistles!!!!The
rooms were average ..we requested to stay in the Martinique village
thanks to all the reviews I read I learned that this one in fact
was the closest and it was just a short walk to the food court and
the main pool. The prices were not a huge shocker considering its
Disney World!!! I read so many reviews of people griping about the
prices of everything..."Hello, your on VACATION" try not to get
all bent up trying to save a dime and worry more about having a
good time..that is why they call it vacation..isn't it? Anyway,
the resort resteraunt was very nice. The food was great! The service
was excellent! I must say overall our vacation went very well comparing
to our nightmare vacation the year before when we stayed at the
All Star Movies Resort!!!! That was the first and last time we will
ever stay at that resort.. it certainly wasn't glitzy enough for
me!!! As for the CBR my family and I are counting the days before
we get there next year!!!!" (6/03) Jenn
"We just got back from the resort. We stayed 4-27-03/5-2-03.
It was a very, very, very, bad experience! We stayed in Aruba room
5110. The room was filthy! They did not clean our room at all. All
the maid did was make the bed, replace the towels, and dump the
trash (except on one day she didn't even dump the trash and never
changed the sheets)! We complained and were told if you don't like
it you can check out! It rained and inside the room in front of
the door was soaked! You could tell it was not the first time it
had happened. We called the front desk and they said they would
send someone to check it out. That person showed up and handed us
a stack of towels and walked away! The carpet was very dirty with
stains. The carpet in front of the door was peeling up from getting
wet so much. I would not let my two kids play on the floor! My wife
found dead bugs on the bathroom floor also. Food wrappers from other
guests behind the night stand and under the beds. I would not stay
there again! I recommend staying off site! We were also told by
the front desk that some of their rooms were called rehab rooms.
I took that as they were in worse shape. We had a rental car so
we ate off site. The grounds were nice. I recommend staying off
site. For the cost it was not worth it. My overall experiance was
horriable. It was our first family vacation. We had to save for
two years. Next time we will stay at the Hampton Inn. We stayed
there on 4-26-03 when we got into town. It only cost $59.00 a night
and was very, very nice and clean. So my overall opinion of the
Carribean Beach Resort is a negitive 5." (5/03) john rutherford
" i loved cbr! the resort was beautifully themed, cheerful,
and full of disney magic. although it was very spaced out, the resort
would not be the same if it was all packed into a tiny space. to
all of the people that are complaining about the amount of walking,
it was not that bad. they should enjoy the atmosphere of the resort
and get into shape if they could not handle that much walking. our
room was brightly decorated and extremely clean. housekeeping was
very friendly, also. after tipping our maid, she made us little
animals out of clean washcloths. i thought this was very nice of
her, and it showed her gratitude. As for the food at the resort,
i thought that it was good. there was always something for everyone
in my family liked. the refillable mugs are a great investment.
the only thing that i was kind of disgusted by was the people walking
around in their bathing suits that just came out of the pool. i
thought that some of those people should have covered up a bit before
coming into a place where others were eating. besides that, my favorite
part was the bakery where they had mickey mouse shaped rice crispy
treats dipped in chocolate. they were very good!" (7/02) Susan
"First of all, check in took forever! Then you have to wait
for a bus to take you to your building. When we got there, the room
was so dark and ugly. you open the door and you're staring at bushes,
not even trimmed low. They were as high as the ceiling! When I called
to complain, I was on hold forever. If I wanted to go in person,
I actually had to walk to the bus stop to wait again for a bus to
take me to the main building! Now as far as the restaurant and I'm
pretty sure there is only one, was terrible! That along with the
pool, and shops, were way too far to go to everyday with two little
kids in the heat! And yes we could have taken the bus, but then
again I'm pretty sure walking was faster!! We did have a pool by
our building, but not a kiddie one. I don't remember the name of
the building, and don't care to. There is no way that was worth
all the money we spent there! It was terrible! To top it all off,
my sister-in-law stayed off premises a mile away, about ten minutes
drive, payed a lot less, and loved it. She got to the parks faster
than we did and we were on the premises!! And if she had a question,
she just had to go downstairs!! And I can't believe how long it
took us to check out of ours, just to get the hell out of there!!"

"The resort
was amazing, from the rooms to the dining to the shopping. It was
a little chilly when we were there so we did not get to swim, but
we went biking and had a blast! The food court was great if you
were a little hungry, lots of selection. We had an amazing time!!!"

"We arrived
at caribbean beach Well early then the check in But we found that
they had a room all set for us at barbados villages. As any man
will tell you traveling with a woman is tough their luggage is always
3 time as heavy as yours is so location is key. We were right next
to the pool and we were a short walk from the bar. The Room was
Very Clean the cleaning staff was Great. Dining at the resort was
Ok Nothing Great my suggestion eat in the parks about the same Price
and probably bettr selection. This resort is great for people who
love the beach to me nothing better then taking a break at the beach
with a nice cold Beer." (5/02) Peter
"We stayed
in Aruba and found it perfect position for the bus transport.last
on the bus in the morning,so didn't have to waste time going round
the whole resort. Then first off on return (at other stop)so didn't
have to go around resort! Aruba is also near bridge straight across
to food court etc but far enough away to be peaceful. A little disappointed
that our room was obviously in need of redecoration but didn't spend
much time in it. Preferred the quiet pool as the Theme pool got
very busy, which made it difficult to watch 3 kids (7,4 and 2). Disney
Transport excellent and we only rented a car for 3 days to do Universal,Seaworld
etc).We weren't impressed with food court at CBR so ate off site
mostly.Customer Service excellent, responding immediately when contacted
about noisy neighbour and faulty ice machine. Hoping to go back
in 2004 but researching off-site accom as kids now 12,9 and 6 and
think this time CBR room would be too small.Shame. Still feel Disney
need to fill the accom gap for families with 3 "older" kids. We're
considering Holiday Inn fam suites for 2004.Come on Disney, you could
do that! Not impressed, hope its improved since our 1998 visit."
Anne Bumpus
"The accomodations
at CBR were excellent. Selecting this resort we were choosing between
this, Shades of Green (NOT Disney enough), and All-Star Movies (too
small for a family of 5). The most pleasant surprise was the seclusion.
The resort is spread out over seven residences named for Carribean
islands and the result is an unplugged, uncongested, relaxed stay
at WDW. No real crowds until you hit the parks. The services are
great from the Disney cable channels (I can still remember waking
up to "Zip-a-dee doo dah zipp-a-dee day!" every morning) to the
services around the resort. The extra space was welcome for our
family and a good trade off of the features kids lo v e at All Star
and other resorts. I was never so relaxed in my life." (3/02)

"Caribbean
beach is the only disney hotel i have stayed in and it is SOOOOOOOOO
nice!!!! the rooms have lots of space in them and are decorated
really good. i loved it! we were quite worried about what to do
about travelling to the parks but we were told so much about what
to do and how to do it my only complaint could possibly be that
we were over-informed! when we were being taken to our room the
man that drove and carried our luggage explained everything and
answered all our questions. he also told us not to go in the lake
as there were man-eating crocodiles! when you go into the room you
get this little package with free drink mugs and ponchos and its
so cool! the old port royle is also really really nice. It is so
fun to get up in the morning and walk throuhg the island in the
middle of he resort and go to get breakfast. we always had muffins!
they were so good-not as good a the giant cookies though.!! The
drink island for free drinks is also really handy and good. I LOVED
the surfing place shop. theres really nice jewellery there, loads
of bead necklaces and stuff. also there is a BIG disney shop, with
chlothes, models, figures, pens, souvenirs and EVERYTHING DISNEY!
its so cool, because in the day if your mums sunbaathing and your
a bit bored you can look rond at all the disney stuff, its like
an on site disney store! (where i live you have to drive to the
shopping centre to go to the disney store! ) i loved it! and i bought
a really big, baggy 'grumpy' nighty. i still wear it now-two years
on! I really loved staying at this resort and we are going back
again this year on december 20th! we will e there on CHRISTMAS DAY!!!!!!
i absolutely can't wait to go! its so so so so nice! if you are
going i can garuntee you will have a REALLY COOL TIME! if you don't
, i want to hear about it. because i don't think that is possible!"

[note - the ponchos & mugs are not free, they are in all
rooms, but if you use them you will be charged for them, Joanne]
"We stayed
in Martinique, building 26. It was beautiful. All our requests were
met. I asked for connecting rooms with my parents, we were close
to the food court. It was amazingly clean. Mousekeeping made sure
we had what ever we needed and then some!!!! The food court was
very nice and easy to get to and use. We did dine one night in the
sit down resturant. It was not all that good, and could have had
some more to chose from on its menu. I highly recomend to anyone
going there for more then a few days, to get the refillable mugs.
At first I thought $9.95 was a bit steep, but after I figured how
long we were staying and how many time we would use them it was
worth every penny! I loved CBR. My family enjoyed being there, and
the staff was very helpful. I would highly recomend CBR to anyone
going." (4/02) Barbara Csogi
"My wife and
I recently returned home after 7 days vacation at WDW. We booked
our trip this year in Feburary for the Carribean Beach Resort. I
can honestly say that we would never consider staying there again.
The food court was very much a dissapointment. At night after everything
had closed meaning the parks, there was lines that you would not
beleive. When spending a great deal of money to stay on property,
it was a shame. The cast members taking orders were not very polite
either. When ordering the food at the register they would'nt even
tell you the total amount, you had to look at the screen. And not
even a thank you! Next year we are going back to Port Orleans Resort.
The food court we thought was the best. You never waited in line
because there was so much to order from. Not like the Carribean,
where WDW brags about it being as big as the World Show case in
Epcot. NO wonder it's so bad. When you order at Port Orleans, the
cast members are at a area away from the imm e diate food location
to check you out, it was so smooth and fast. Also a nice food selection
and a staff waiting to wait on people. We had heard on a web site
that the Carribean was not so nice, so we found out the hard way.
Also never go to the last show at the hoop dee do revue. The show
was great, but try to get back to your resort at 11:30 at night.
We had to take a bus from Pioneer Hall for a 3 minute ride to the
outpost at Fort Wilderness, then wait for another bus from there
to Downtown D isney, while in the process pass almost every Resort,
then after getting to Downtown Disney take a bus to the Carribean.
Getting back at 12:45." (6/02) Robert Thomas
"WE stayed
at the CBR from May 5-11,2002 in the Aruba section. The room wass
clean and housekeeping svc good. this was our 4th visit to DW and
the 3rd time staying on site. We had to stand in line for an hour
to register on Sunday --May 5. I felt sorry for all the bored crying
kids waiting ---let alone their harried parents!!! I was also disappointed
with the Disney Bus SVC.. This was the main reason we always chose
to stay onsite. IN the past their was never more then a 10 mi n
ute wait for a bus and you could always be assured of a seat----not
anymore. WE waited 20 -30 minutes for a bus that was standing room
only. This I think was dangerous especially for the young kids standing.
We had to wait 45 minutes to Epcot and 50 minutes for the bus to
Animal Kingdom from the CBR. They do have a phone by bus stop to
call with problems or complaints but it was not always picked up
so I would complain to the bus driver who said he would call it
in. Disney has also eliminate d the early entry for onsite guests
so next time ---it will be an off site hotel and a rental car. Money
wise I think you will get more hotel for your money. Disney charged
$10.00 a day for a refridgerator and also for the coffee!!!!! I
would be curious to hear others had the same problems or we were
just unlucky!" (5/02) Mary
"The resort
was beautiful,We had stayed in the Jamaca part of the resort, it
was very clean well decorated. The room itself was of adeqaute size
and the veiw of the beach was exceptional,we will miss the freindly
greetings given to us by the staff( have a magical day). The food
court was resonable priced well stocked clean and freindly.Bus service
from the resort was exceptional. Finally we would not hesitate to
stay at the carabien resort again." (5/02) Gerry
"I liked the
accomodations at the hotel but I was all the way at the end of the
resort in Trinidad South. I would have liked to be closer to the
Old Port Royale. The staff was very nice and informative for check
in and out. I would stay there again and would recommend that resort
to all my friends. Me and my husband want to take this opportunity
to thank you for the law enforcement discount for the hotel stay.
It was greatly appreciated and we would deffinately stay there again."
(5/02) Lena Freni
"I was a little
concerned staying at this property, I read a few reviews that said
rooms were dirty and they were disappointed. Well let me tell you,
you have nothing to be concerned about. I am a Corporate Travel
Consultant and have seen lot of different types of properties but
the Caribbean Beach Resort was great. We checked in at 1030a, no
line. The Staff was very helpful and listened to our requests. A
king bed with a waterview is what I wanted but was advised that
king be d s do not have waterviews, so I was a little disappointed
but when I saw I had a corner room and it was beautifully decorated
I soon fogot about the waterview. The view out side the room was
beautiful, everything was green and flowery. We stayed in the Aruba.
A short walk to everywhere. The bus stop was a 2 minute walk, the
small pool was just over one building and the laundry room was right
across the walk. The food court, Disney shop and bike/boat rental
right across the bridge, about a 5 minute walk. The view at this
resort makes you feel like you are in the Caribbean. I enjoyed the
resort and wish we spent more time at the resort. Maybe next year.
The food court was nice. We enjoyed the bountiful breakfast, it
was actually enough for me and my husband to share. You can get
just about anything you would like to eat here and drink. I would
recommend this hotel to anyone, families, couples and singles. All
age groups would enjoy this resort too. We do recommend a refrigerator
though to keep a supply of drinks in the room. Also the flat screen
Sony tv, very impressive." (4/02) Christee Thomas
"OUR ROOM
WAS VERY CLEAN. HOWEVER WE NOTICE A HOLE IN TH E WALL. THE STAFF
WAS RIGHT THERE TO FIX THE HOLE. THE ROOMS WERE A GOOD SIZE. WE
HAD A STANDARD VIEW, BUT THE GARDENS WERE NICE TO LOOK AT. WE DID
HAVE A LITTLE WALK TO THE MAIN BUILDING, HOWEVER THE TRAILS AND
THE BEACH MADE IT A BEAUTIFUL WALK. THE FOOD COURT IS VERY SMALL
FOR THE SIZE OF THE RESORT. THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT, HOWEVER LONG
WAITS.. IT WOULD BE NICE IF THE FOOD COURT WOULD STAY OPEN LONGER.
WE DID NOT EAT AT THE FULL SERVICE RESTARAUNT. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL
RESORT. WE COULD SEE THE BALL OF EPOCOT FROM THE MAIN BUILDING.
THIS RESORT DOES TRANSPORT YOU TO THE ISLANDS. WE ARE VISTING THE
WDW AGAIN AND PLAN ON STAYING AT THE CONTEMPORARY. WE LOVE DISNEY
WORLD!!!!" (8/00) carolyn
"My family
stayed at the Carribean Beach Reort and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
We had no trouble catching the bus to and from our room that week,
and we felt very safe the entire time we were on the Disney property.
We may have spent a little more money to stay on-sight, but we saved
money on a rental car, and had no desire to go off the property
during that vacation." (2/02) gv
"We stayed
a the CBR in April 2001, we were there approx. 8 nights, the room
was clean and spacious enough for the 3 of us, the atmosphere of
the resort was truly like being on an island, we stayed in the Jamaica
building, it was a nice walk over a bridge and small island to get
to the food court, which by the way was great, out by the main pool,
there was wonderful music playing, and there were ducks and other
birds you could feed. All in all this was a great place to stay,
I w o uld highly recommend CBR." (4/01) Jill
"I have stayed
at the Dixie Landings, Yacht Club, Grand Floridian and the Caribbean
Beach. I did not like the CBR at all. Their are to many buildings
and subsequently you have to wait a long time for buses. Getting
coffee in the morning was a hike. The room was dirty and had mold
growing on the ceiling in the room and bathroom. My parents room,
which was right next door, had a toilet that didn't stop leaking
for two days. They had to use towels to soak up the water on the
carpet. Several calls to the front desk and housekeeping didn't
help. We also had a phone that didn't work for the first two days.
I would never stay at CBR again! The pool at this resort was nice
but again, you had to walk quite a distance to get to the main pool."
(10/01) Kathy Voss
"Our room
was in Trinidad North. It was extremely clean and well decorated.
The bathroom was a little small, but overall it was a very good
room. We really enjoyed both the food court and the Captain's Tavern
restaurant. Everything we tried at the food court was good (particularly
the breakfast) and the prices were certainly cheaper than eating
out all the time. There was a great variety on the menu. I would
definitely go back to Caribbean Beach. The landscaping and the atmosphere
were wonderful, and everyone who worked there was extremely friendly.
I think it is an excellent value and would recommend it to anyone
going to WDW." (1/02) Kelly
"This was
our 3rd time staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort. Last time was
5 1\2 years ago, and 3 years prior to that. I guess, when you find
a place that you like, you keep coming back to the same place. It
is great when you have young kids. You can walk or ride a bike around
the lagoon(about a mile and a half). Each section has there own
heated pool, or go to the Old Port for the large shalow pool with
slide. Wildlife is all around the resort. We will be back."
(11/01) Tom Abbott
"Carribean
Beach rooms
The rooms are almost all double Queen bed rooms with Cable TV. The
TV at Disney is quite good - containing five channels devoted to
Disney alone, with CNN, Fox, and ABC.(no british channels) Each
room has a seperate bathroom with Loo and Bath with 'Massage' shower,
and then between the bathroom and the opposite wall an area with
a single or double sink and a large curtain taht can be drawn across
- good for getting changed etc. The hotel has 7000 rooms and is
divided up into Islands - Barbados, Martinique, Trinidad North,
Trinidad South, Jamaica, and Aruba. Each Island has it's own heated
pool and there are about 6 2-storey buildings in each room. Martinique
and Trinidad North are the closest to the central facility, so when
you check in see if you can wangle being allocated one of those
islands. If you are disabled, disabled rooms have a higher sink
unit , and handles where you need them, and there is no under-sink
cupboard so someone using a wheel chair can slot their knees underneath
the sink unit.
Facilities at Carribean beach
The Central complex for the hotel is Old Port Royale / Center Towne
(apart from check-in/out, and bell services which are located at
Custom House - near the road entrance to DCB), This contains: Barefoot
Bay - Large Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi ('Spa'), Smaller 2' kids pool,
loungers and poolside bar, selling alcoholic drinks and cocktails,
and 'virgin' smoothies and cold drinks - has tv's - normally on
ESPN or CNN. Also a Caricaturist ($15) and Hair Wraps ($2 per inch,
or so I'm informed by my fiancé)
Barefoot Bay Marina - Hires: Peddalo's (about $15 for 1/2 hour)
Bikes and Two Seater and Four Seater Quadracycles (about $10/20/30
respectively) Two seater mini 'speed' boats - 'Water Mice' ($20
per half hour) SunSeeker boats - (6 or 8 person pontoon boats for
about $40/50 half hour)
Calypso Trading Post
Stalls in Centre-Towne's market sell brand name Beachwear (QuikSilver
etc - at a price!), towels and so on, as well a pearl stall. The
actual shop sells all your usual "mickey and the gang" stuff - soft
toys, books, cd's, pc games, snowglobes, teeshirts, pj's etc, as
well as basic grocery items, and beers, wines etc. (to over 21's
of course). This is also where packages are sent from the parks.
They used to send them directly into people's rooms in the Moderate
and higher resorts however this has stopped since about July - all
packages get sent to the main shop in you resort about 2pm the day
after you bought them - make sure you take the receipt and the room/resort
card.
Food
All the food is together in one central food court called Market
Street.
Drinks
CBR, as do most of the other resorts does an unlimited refill offer.
£10 + tax gets you a nice souvinier mug, which you can refill with
hot or cold drinks as many times as you like for nothing. This last
the length of you stay and any further stays whilst those mugs are
in use. This includes: (with english translations!) Coke, D.coke,
Mr Pibb - (Dr Pepper), Hi C (Pink Lemonade), Sprite, Minute Maid
(Orange Tango), Mello Yello: (Mountain Dew), Ice Water, Coffee,
DeCaf Coffee, Tea, DeCaf Tea, Hot Chocolate (but you need to ask
the staff for the sachets)
These cups have small holes in the lids so they aren't really ideal
for carrying round the parks, and the free drinks do not extend
out of your hotel. Each resort has different mugs -DCB's has the
Little Mermaid." (10/01) Ant (tigger)
"This was
our first trip to Disney, and friends suggested the Caribbean Beach
Resort. We were in the Aruba area, and were quite pleased with what
we got. The room was clean, and overlooked the lake. It was really
beautiful at night. The maid service was good, although we could
never get her to leave one wash cloth per person...she always left
3 wash cloths for the 4 of us! But other than that she was really
good and very friendly.
The food at the resort was varied. They offered pasta, pizza, bakery,
deli, burgers, etc. plus a dine-in restaurant. Make sure you get
the refillable cups on your first visit, so your drinks at the resort
for the rest of your trip are free. They can really stick it to
you on the drinks. Overall, we were happy with the food, especially
for breakfast.
We would definitely stay at the Caribbean Beach again. Everything
was within walking distance on the resort grounds, everything was
kept up and kept clean. And if you drive or rent a car, it seems
to be centrally located between the theme parks...no more than a
few minutes from anywhere which made it really nice for us."
(8/01) Dee
"Our family loved staying at this resort. We have enjoyed
this resort many times. The atmosphere and landscaping is beautiful.
The bus stops are convenient, as well as the food court and pools.
We liked using the village pool. The smaller pools were less crowded.
Sometimes we were the only family there. I could bring a glass of
wine, (If you go to the back of the resort gift shop, there is a
tiny store with all sorts of useful items. I have purchased wine,
hairspray, sun block and baby wipes there. The detergent is also
a little less expensive than the detergent sold at the laundry area.)
read a book and do my laundry, while my family was swimming. This
was an excellent break from the parks. There are tiny chameleons
all over the place. My boys really liked this! You can't beat the
convenience of staying right at WDW. There were times when my husband
wanted to go to a different park, or he just wanted to catch some
sun by the pool. Even if we split! up during the day, we could always
meet back at the resort before going out for the evening.
Sadly, as mentioned in some of the earlier reviews, our family is
now 3 adults and one almost there. The rooms are very pleasant and
colorful, but just two double beds. This was ok when the boys were
younger, but the last time we were there we needed to rent a cot,
which wasn't very comfortable. The housekeeping service is prompt
and we never had any problems with our requests, such as extra towels
for the pool.
We will always have perfect memories of the Caribbean Beach Resort.
My husband would get up early and bring coffee, juice and fresh
buns from the food court bakery (excellent!). We had great ice cream
sundaes almost every night along with delicious chocolate chip cookies
(all also from the food court bakery). Walking along the promenade
at night was a great way to relax and unwind after a long day and
too much snacking. Swimming in the rain (when there was no lightening)
and boating on the lake. My son even got a hair wrap once! This
resort is a great value for the money. You could just stay in the
resort and have a wonderful vacation." (6/00) Kathy
