Anyone for tennis? If that's the sports question, the Walt Disney World Resort has the answer with 30 of the finest tennis courts in Central Florida -- including 11 world-class clay courts which have played host to professional players at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex.

Disney's Wide World of Sports complex has been a hub for tennis activity at Walt Disney World Resort since the 200-acre, state-of-the-art facility opened in March of 1997. One of nine venues, the tennis complex offers 11 lighted green clay courts. The center court stadium offers permanent seating for 1,100 and can be expanded for major events such as the Clay Court Championships, a men's professional tennis event held at the Disney facility from 1997-2000.

Other first-class tennis facilities can be found in almost every corner of the 47-square-mile Disney property.

Disney's Racquet Club, located at the Contemporary Resort, features six clay courts, all lighted for evening play. Disney's Racquet Club Pro Shop features top-brand equipment as well as shower and locker facilities.

Other court locations: Disney Institute (four clay courts), Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (two clay courts), Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground (two hard courts), Disney's Yacht Club Resort and Disney's Beach Club Resort (two hard courts), and Disney's Old Key West Resort (three hard courts). All are lighted for night play.

Amenities include ball machines, racquet rental and a hitting wall.

BoardWalk Resort - Two courts featuring Plexiplave, a hard rubberized playing surface. Racquets available to hire for $4 per guest, balls to hire for $1. Courts can be reserved for $10 (optional), call 407 939-6486. Courts available to 10pm.

Yacht and Beach Club Resort - Two courts featuring Plexiplave, a hard rubberized playing surface. Present your resort ID for free equipment hire. Optional court reservation for $10, call 407 934-3256. Open 7am - 10pm.

Fort Wilderness Resort - Two courts, open 8am - 10pm. Equipment available for hire from the Bike Barn, racquet rental $3, balls $1 per can (Bike Barn open 8am - 5pm). Reservations not available.

Old Key West Resort - Two lighted hard surface courts, one unli court. Open 24hrs. DVC members can use the courts free of charge, non-members pay $3per use. Racquets available for rent to non-members for $3 from Hank's Rent 'n' Return (open 9am - 10pm). No reservations available.

Contemporary Resort Racquet Club - Six lighted Hydrogrid clay courts. Open from 8am- 8pm, and are available for all Resort Guests. Cost $15 (plus tax) per court per hour, or $50 (plus tax) per family per vacation. Racquet rental $5 (plus tax), ball machines $25 (plus tax) per hour. Practice lanes are available at no charge. Reservations are recommended.

Grand Floridian Resort and Spa - Two Har-Tru soft surface tennis courts. Open 8am - 8pm, available for all Resort Guests. Cost $15 (plus tax) per court per hour. Racquet rental $5 (plus tax), ball machines $25 (plus tax) per hour. Reservations are recommended.

Disney Institute - Four Har-Tru soft surface tennis courts. Open 7am - 8pm. Cost $15 (plus tax) per court per day, includes complimentary access to fully equipped Cybex weight room. Racquet rental complimentary, balls $5.50 per can of 3, ball machines $25 (plus tax) per hour. Practice lanes are available at no charge. Tennis Clinic - $49 per guest from 7:30am - 9:30am. Call 407 827 4800.

Reservations are always needed for Pros, and guests are urged to make them as soon as they know their vacation dates.
Soft surface tennis courts require proper shoes. Running and cross-training shoes are not permitted.
All reservations require a four hour cancellation notice, or charges apply.
All outdoor activities at Walt Disney World are weather permitting and can be cancelled or delayed for the safety of their guests.
