Our APs that we used on our Honeymoon last year were burning a
hole in our pockets and we decided that before we bought a house
and still could get a decent rate on the room, we better take advantage.
So, we looked into the dates, planned around the President’s
holiday and invited anyone willing to go. Originally there were
4 and then we ended up just being 3 in the end. We opted not to
fly since this was a last minute trip and money was getting a little
tight. Plus, I planned on buying at least 2 snowglobes and I’m
sick of having them shipped home and paying extra.
Participants – Me (Regina) – 27, Disney Vet, Planner
Extraordinaire
Clint – 28, Reg’s Husband and resident grouch
Kristen – 26, Friend to us of about 8 years and hasn’t
been there since she was a teen
Planning – Not much to do. Got the room right away, didn’t
need airline txs (although, there was heavy fighting on Kristen’s
end here). Made up an itinerary because we only had a short amount
of time and we wanted to make sure we hit everything at least once.
We made all of our PR’s in advance so we wouldn’t have
to worry and took off!
Day 1 - Friday into Saturday
Left work early packed up the truck and got on the road about 3:30ish.
Luckily, we didn’t hit any rush hour traffic and sailed through
Washington DC. VERY SURPRISED at that one! Stopped for dinner at
Cracker Barrell roundabout Virginia and got back on the road very
quickly. We drove through the night taking turns and stopping only
for bathroom breaks. Beware along route 95 people; the bathrooms
tend to get pretty nasty along the way. I don’t know if it’s
because we were there in the middle of the night or if they were
just plain nasty. Whatever the case is, arm yourselves with toxic
masks or just hold it. We arrived in FL around 6 am and stopped
for breakfast in Jacksonville around 6:30. Denny’s wasn’t
all that bad but the servers were quite excited to have a lot of
people coming through there that weekend (superbowl weekend). I’ve
never seen such nice people who were so willing to chat. Too bad
we were all in pretty rotten moods after having been in a car for
15 hours! Got back on the road about 7 and drove straight down into
Orlando. WELCOME HOME!! Got into Disney around 10am and headed straight
for Port Orleans French Quarter.
As we were checking in, the CM made sure to give us a schedule
of Extra Magic Hours and told us the great news that our room was
ready. I think this was the greatest news I’ve heard since
the priest pronounced me Clint’s wife. Got in the room and
preceded to sleep for the next 6 hours. Got up, took necessary showers
and headed out to I Drive for dinner. Now, Clint and I would normally
never do this but Kristen only asked for this one place to go to
and since she didn’t win the flying down, we figured we would
bend on this one. We went to Pacino’s over on I drive. Not
too bad of a location (relatively speaking ) and no one came up
to us offering to buy discount tickets. A little touristy (someone
named “flash” came up to us asking if we wanted our
pics taken, like your name was REALLY flash) but the food was excellent.
I think it had to be the absolute best chicken marsala I’ve
ever eaten. We ordered a sampler for an appetizer and although none
of us like tomatoes in the slightest bit, because the bruchetta
looked so good we kept trying it and realizing that we really don’t
like it. I give them an A for the presentation of the food and an
A for the taste but I probably won’t go there again just given
the fact that it’s on International drive and I can’t
deal with that road.
